Well when we brought Cai home from the hospital, she was being fed every 2 hours. When we read the instructions on the can of formula, it was suggesting every 4 hours. So we decided to switch her feedings to every 3 hours and slowly work our way up to 4 hours. Her screams of hunger were difficult to deal with, but we were certain that this would be best for her....until today.
We had an appointment with a paediatrician and learned that because of the month in hospital, her stomach was probably simply not large enough to sustain feedings every 4 hours, and that we should stick with the 2 hour feedings and slowly lengthen it to 3 hours.So now Cai's screams of hunger will be answered with a bottle!
Oh God, good luck with lengthening the feeding times!! We've been trying to get Jeremy to feed only every 3 hours now for a while. He is one UNHAPPY camper when he doesn't get food when he wants it, LOL! Most of the time it's every 2.5 hours, although he -at least- takes a full bottle when he does that. I'd be more PO'd if he was snacking on an ounce or two here or there. I think he may be trying to get more calories during the day so he can sleep longer at night...I think...he still wakes up once a night to eat though. Maybe once solids are introduced in a couple of weeks?? How often does Tri wake for feedings at night? If you have any luck lengthening the feeding times...please tell me your secret!!!
